Does my guttering need replacing?
When a gutter becomes damaged or starts leaking it might be a little more serious than you think. The prevention of normal water flow through the drainage system can create additional damage to both the exterior and interior of a property. Luckily Wragg Roofing in Sheffield have some valuable advice on how to spot a fault in your guttering before it gets out of hand.
How to tell if your guttering is damaged or degraded?
There are a range of tell-tale signs that you might need to replace your guttering, the most indicative of which is a leak or drip from the roof. A properly functioning guttering system won’t create any leaks. In the case of leaks you might not see the dripping of water itself, but you may notice wet patches on walls or puddles forming where you wouldn’t expect them.
There are other signs, but these might need more investigation. However, if you spot the signs early you can prevent further damage further down the line. Things such as loose piping and joints could be repaired easily if you spot them before the leak occurs. You might also be able to spot pipes that have come loose of the wall, if these detach completely from the wall you could have a big and expensive problem.
